Fallin’ Into Fun
Once upon a time, there were witches, wolves, and wicked stepmothers, oh my! Many of the tales you know and love exist in dozens of different countries. The German Grimm brothers’ version of Snow White was one that got super popular and was very differently portrayed than Disney’s popularised version of the story. The Grimm brothers decided to write fairy tales for kids and in 19th century Germany, that meant more violence.
The story of Snow White talks about envy, and cruelty and how all of it can be overcome by courage and kindness. When we think of fairy tales we usually think about things that are unrealistically too good. Everything is so impossible and beautiful. But the older versions are very different than what we think about fairy tales today.
